    June Cherry Doll!

    June Cherry Doll!

My June Cherry Doll is an absolute stunner and fellow Melbourne pinup. We were lucky enough to meet in 2018 and I was blown away by her vintage style.

    Please welcome Zoe!

Read all about her love of vintage and make sure you follow her journey on Instagram

    @zo_renee

    She is a true inspiration!

    1. Who are you and what is your pinup persona?

My name is Zoe, I'm 28 years old and I love all things vintage. I got my love of vintage from my mum. I grew up hunting and exploring through antique shops, vintage markets and fairs with her. She also loves watching old movies from the 30s, 40s and 50s and got me addicted to them. We would (still do) watch them and comment on each outfit we loved the most. I came into dressing vintage only a couple of years ago. I didn't think I could pull it off, but after a bad break up I decided what the hell and haven't looked back.

    2. Where are you from?

Born and grew up in Melbourne, Australia. Still currently in Melbourne.

    3. What do you love about pinup?

Where do I begin? I love everything about it. I love the attention to detail and the surprises with vintage clothing, like hidden pockets. One of my favourite outfits to wear is a late 1940s to early 1950s suit. The tailoring, even just a very simple style is incredibly on point and makes so many different figures look stunning. It's like an art form,  from the clothes the make up, hair and down to the simple details like jewellery and stockings.

I definitely feel as though I have found myself and gained more confidence since I started wearing vintage and reproductive style clothing. It's something that makes me feel so happy to be the person that I am now.
I've meet some great and amazing people through the vintage/ pinup community from vintage sellers, pinups and vintage enthusiasts and made some great new friends. I get a lot of strangers in public coming up to me to start a conversation about my style and clothing and how it reminds them of either themselves wearing a similar style or their mothers and grandmothers. It's lovely to see them reminisce the past and remember happy memories.
    4. How did you find out about Cherry La Blaze Vintage and Rockabilly?
I first heard about Cherry La Blaze Vintage and Rockabilly when I meet Miss Cherry La Blaze at a vintage hair tutorial class run by the lovely Ally Ferguson (VintageValley) last year. Miss Cherry La Blaze was the model for Ally. I started to follow Miss Cherry La Blaze on Instagram and purchase
    from her fabulous store.
    5. What is your favorite product that you have purchased from our store so far?
I really like the vintage hairstyling miracle curl brush, it has really helped with my brush outs and taming my crazy curls! I also love the hair flowers. The colours are amazing and they look very incredible. I also love how they can be pinned anywhere and not just for your hair. I've pinned them on cardigans, hats and coats. They add an extra pop of colour and glam.
    6. What do you do for work?

I'm currently a receptionist for an Optometrist. I studied a Bachelor of Fine Art and continue with my art with night classes and sometimes have exhibitions.

    7. What/who inspires you and your personal style?

I adore Gene Tierney, I love her 40s fashion and style. She is dressed to kill, a femme fatale and so incredibly glamorous. Audrey Hepburn is another big inspiration for me too, her sweet 1950s style like in Sabrina and Funny Face.
I collect old magazines from the 30s to the early 60s is that focus on fashion to get tips and ideas of colours and accessories.
    8. Sweet or savory?
Hmm, that's really hard! I love all food, I eat like a pig which you wouldn't know by the look of me. But if I had to pick probably sweet, I'm a big baker of cakes, cupcakes, pies and all sorts of things.
    9. Favorite quote/advice and why
"The most important thing is to enjoy your life, to be happy, it's all that matters" -Audrey Hepburn
"Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom"- Marcel Proust
    Thank you so much doll!
You are a total bombshell, I'm so glad to have met you and thank you for being such a fabulous customer.
Keep doing what your doing because you are inspiring pinups everywhere.

    DRESSLILY COLLABORATION

    DRESSLILY COLLABORATION

I was recently contacted by Dresslily to not only try some of their super cute 50's inspired dresses but to also do a live review on their Face Book page!

I jumped at the opportunity straight away because they really do have some adorable vintage inspired items that won't break your budget and because I love trying new things and going live is something I have never done.

So after a few issues with my kiddies and some technical updates we are now set for the live review later this week. I will be announcing the day and time in the next couple of days so stay tuned and make sure you are following the Dresslily Face Book page below.

    https://www.facebook.com/Dresslily/

I was lucky enough to receive four different vintage inspired dresses, one being classic 50's, rockabilly/diner style, tiki and a floral piece for the cooler months. I wanted to show the wide variety of styles that are available from Dresslily. I have to admit I do have a favourite! Which is the Retro Gingham Bow Knot Flare Dress pictured below which screams classic 50's housewife. However all in all I do love every one of them for different reasons which I will go into more depth in the live review.

If you are a pinup on a budget and you are looking for some vintage inspired dresses then I recommend giving this brand a go. I was really happy with all of the dresses I received, they were all stretchy and super comfy and would love to try some of their themed dresses too.

    Interview -

    1. Who are you and what is your pinup persona?

Sheereen (Reenie) / Miss Vintage Orchid (The bubbly pinup) 😄🌺

    2. Where are you from?

Singapore 🇸🇬 hence the Pinup name - The Orchid is the national flower of Singapore 😊

    3. What do you love about pinup?

The positive love & respect for the female beauty. I love the fact that it promotes positive body image for ladies of any size & shape and diversity. It encourages and promotes self-love & acceptance for one's self & most importantly the confidence within 🌟

    4. How did you find out about Cherry La Blaze Vintage and Rockabilly?

When I first started Pinup in August 2018 I went into it full force - go hard or go home right? Thank god for Afterpay! 🙊 Lol I googled for stores that I can start up my Pinup wardrobe from and your beautiful store came up as a recommendation. I bought a few of my first ever Pinup outfits & accessories from you then and I've been coming back often since 😄💜

    5. What is your favorite product that you have purchased from our store so far?

Hard to pick! I love them all! If I have to pick just the one it'll have to be the Banned Red heart basket handbag - I've worn that bag a lot ♥️

    6. What do you do for work?

I'm a freelance makeup artist (although I'm not doing that much now because I'm so busy with Pinup 😆). I mainly work full time as a Motor Claims Case manager for a large insurance company doing the 9 to 5 🚗  Love the fact that I can still dress Pinup into work every day! 😄

    7. What/who inspires you and your personal style?

Amanda - Modern "June" Cleaver & my Pinup bestie Miss Mon Mon ♥️ I love the quirky bright retro colours that Amanda brings into her style & I love the way Mon picks & wears true vintage so beautifully - she has great taste in stuff lol ♥️

    8. Sweet or savory?

Hmmmm... some days sweet but most days savoury. Can I say both?? Hehe 😬

    9. Favorite quote/advice and why.

I love positive quotes and words of inspiration as I use them daily as affirmations. I do a lot of #quoteoftheday posts on my Instagram profile under my photos. It's hard to choose but if I have to pick one it'll have to be, "Have Courage and be kind" by one of my favourite Disney movies - Cinderella 👑

The quote has great meaning and no it isn't just some corny quote from a kid's movie lol Here's why - Kindness helps you to love and appreciate others, even when they don't act in a way that deserves kindness back. Courage helps you live with integrity at all times - Integrity is very important to me. We need to have both of these in our lives and often times we need them both at the same time. It can sometimes take courage to treat someone kindly especially when that someone hurts you.  It will also take great courage to know when to walk away from situations or people that are negative and bad for you. And of course it will take lots of kindness to forgive and walk away without hate. From there courage comes back into the mix to help one to continue moving forward - onward and upwards ♥️

    10. Anything else you would love to share?

Yes - I'd like to firstly thank you Miss Cherry La Blaze for inviting me to do this as the first ever Cherry Doll to be interviewed. It's such an honour to be participating in this. I'm very lucky to be involved in a great community that is super supportive - a place that allows us to do fun things like this and to grow and develop to be the best Pinup we can be. I've learnt so much since starting my journey and I've come so far since then. My sincerest thanks to everyone who have showed me support and taught me well. You've all played a very important part in my journey and I will forever be grateful to all of you. With that - "A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality."—Yoko Ono 💗

Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth With The sugar Rush Collection

I can't tell you how excited I am to be one of the first stockists of the new ready made collection from vintage reproduction extraordinaire Sarsparilly!

The Sugar Rush Collection is officially live and available for pre-order and it is to die for. You can now pay 50% off the full price and then the remaining amount when your order arrives in early March.

Not only are the designs delightful but the prints are absolutely scrumptious. The name speaks for itself and is made up of 25 separate pieces that can be mixed and matched with each other. If you love pastels you will fall in love with every item. The range is made up of three base colours which are pink, yellow or blue. In true Sarparilly style there are also some amazing novelty prints that are reminiscent of Maria's childhood such as ice-cream trucks and ice-cream parties.

Every single design is flattering to the female figure and with the extensive size range of XXS - 5XL the entire range suits petite to plus size. Super durable and made from high quality fabric each garment is so comfortable and will be sure to last you a lifetime.

Of course I organized a huge collaboration to celebrate the release and I was lucky enough to model some of the collection myself. I love collaborating and helping other like minded individuals build their business. So I called upon my insanely talented bestie Mrs Penny who has just launched her new and exciting business to be the photographer. We have so much fun together and I knew when I saw the range that this would be perfect for her.

Check out her Face Book page

We also were lucky enough to have access to Pearl.

A 57 Chev that is every car enthusiasts dream. Owner Wendy allowed us to cruise around town and for me to lie all over her pride and joy which made me feel like I was truly back in the 50's.

Check her out and Pearl on Face Book here

We are super excited to share the images with you and I also attached the Stockist Spotlight from the Sarsparilly website which is about me and my store so you can have a read of that too.

I also have to thank Maria for allowing me to model her new range, Hailey { Mrs Penny } for taking these amazing images in 38 degrees and to Wendy for allowing us to enjoy Pearl and for being so kind and helpful on the day.

I couldn't have pulled it off without any of you and I hope we can work together again soon.

    Stockist Spotlight

We are so excited to be introducing our new Stockists for our Sugar Rush range.  This is the first time we have had stockists for any of our clothing and we are pumped!

The first shop we'd like to spotlight is a lovely online store based in Victoria, Australia and run by pinup Queen, Lea (A.K.A. Cherry La Blaze herself!).  We asked her some questions so you could all get to know her.

Tell us about Cherry La Blaze, where are you located and how did you start?

Cherry La Blaze Vintage and Rockabilly started in March 2017. It is an online based store that I run from home from King Lake Victoria which is above the Yarra Valley. My hubby and I sold our previous business and he said to me stuff it follow your dream and do what you have always wanted to. So I did!

Tell us about your team, we want to know you :)

My team consists of me, myself and I on a daily basis. I run my website, pack orders, do all my advertising and promotional work and ordering for my website. I'm also really passionate about and love pinup/vintage modeling and love collaborating with other enthusiasts to promote my brand and theirs. I also have a pop up shop that I take to vintage and rockabilly festivals which involves the whole family. Hubby drives the bus and the kids help set up, its definitely a team effort.

What is the best thing about owning your own store?

There are so many things! I love the freedom and creativity it provides me.  It allows me to push myself professionally and creatively.  It makes me want to succeed more.  I learnt more in the last year than I ever have.  I have formed so many amazing relationships.  I love that it allows me to collaborate.  And it has provided me with exciting opportunities.

What sort of things can we find at Cherry La Blaze?

You can find everything 50's inspired at Cherry La Blaze. I like to think or I'm trying to provide unique labels instead of the typical pinup brands. I'm extremely passionate about supporting Aussie businesses, so I try to stock as many of those as I can. We have everything from dresses, shoes, swimwear, bags, brooches, kids clothing and cute kitschy gifts and vintage styling tools.

What is your favourite piece from the Sugar Rush Collection?

I'm a sucker for a cardigan and the Dorothy Knit is to die for, but I also LOVE the Bonnie Dress and all the prints are just delicious. I can't choose one LOL!!

    Favourite Candy?

I love old classics like Redskins, Toffee Apples, Sherbet Bombs and Mates. Anything chewy and sticky!

This raffle was created in collaboration with some extremely well know Aussie small businesses that trade online. I have chosen to raise money for RizeUp Australia, which is an organization that directly helps survivors of Domestic Violence. So all of the proceeds will go directly to RizeUp to help them to continue their work by providing survivors with emergency accommodation, furniture, white goods, clothing, food vouchers and all the basic necessities a survivor needs to start over.
