Cherry Doll Monthly Giveaway - February

Cherry Doll Monthly Giveaway - February

After a very challenging year last year I had to have a break from running Cherry Doll. In previous years it was something I ran through my online store and social media as a way of giving back to the pinup community.

This year I have changed it up a little bit. Instead of choosing a Cherry Doll from all of my valued customers, I decided to run a monthly giveaway where anyone from all over the world can enter. All that is required is a simple follow and to tag me wearing your favourite 50's outfit.

I will be mixing it up and may throw some themes in there and change the prize too. We kicked off February with a classic 50's theme, one lucky winner received a $25 voucher for my online store to spend on whatever they like.

So please congratulate Michelle @miss_mishy_dee my February Cherry Doll with her very polished rockabilly inspired look! I just love it, from head to toe she looks fabulous.

    Hi There,

I’m a fan of retro/ pinup style dressing, I love it and dress this way most of the time, except at work ( uniform )
I’m still working on the perfect hairdo and wings.
Gardening and rock and roll are hobbies and we love to cruise in our 62 Cadillac convertible, our new toy is a cute little 1960 caravan.
I’m very lucky my wonderful hubby loves retro too.
Very exciting to win your competition, now to use my prize.

    Thanks
    Michelle

Miss Candyfloss In High Heels AW20-21 Collection

Miss Candyfloss In High Heels AW20-21 Collection

“You meet a girl. Maybe she’s pretty, maybe she’s smart, maybe she’s funny. Maybe your parents like her. Maybe you get really lucky, and she’s one or two of those things. I got ’em all. That’s a lot.”
    -Midge
The Miss Candyfloss In High Heels Collection draws inspiration from the hit TV-show The Marvelous Mrs Maisel.
Protagonist Midge Maisel is a smart and quick-witted woman, who also happens to express her attitude to life through her impeccable wardrobe, which I'm sure many of us can relate too.
This collection has it all! Full of elegant Upper East Side housewife ensembles, warm and comfortable work dresses, off duty knit sweaters, swing skirts and cigarette trousers. And, of course the ultimate black dress. They also nailed the bold, unusual 50's colour combinations that feature in the show. From Kelly green, royal blue, bright teal, burgundy and mustard yellow there is sure to be a colour combo that will take your fancy, or will have you questioning whether these colours will suit you. Rest assured bright and bold is the new fashion trend, so step out of your comfort zone, or should I say colour zone!
This is one of their largest collections, so as you can imagine it is very hard to choose a favourite piece. Living in Melbourne Victoria where we are about to head into Spring so the ever so stunning Felicienne Dress caught my eye immediately. A comfortable day dress that allows you to add a touch of late 40's flare to your wardrobe.

It breathes feminine elegance and beauty, while its simplicity is giving you an absolute stylish feeling.

Sizes are very limited now and I currently only have two left in store. So hop to it kittens and don't miss out on this beauty.

    Retro Stage Collaboration

    Retro Stage Collaboration

Last month I was lucky enough to be contacted by the team at Retro Stage for a collaboration. Retro stage is an online fashion forward platform that sells vintage inspired outfits, shoes and accessories for very affordable prices. Currently they have a range of dresses that are inspired by The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, which is a TV show set in the late 50's early 60's.

So naturally my first choice was the Rainbow 1950's Pocket Swing Dress, which is one of Midge's iconic outfits in the series. This is a two piece outfit, including the dress and coordinating shorts along with a matching belt. It is made from polyester and it certainly has a nice sheen to it.

While I absolutely love the colours and style of this dress the belt was very hard to manage. I think if the belt was made as an actual belt instead of just made out of the same fabric as the dress it would work much better and not slip. As I am small busted I did have to pin the neckline, I did receive the smallest size, however an XS option I believe would have fit me much better in the bust and around the waist. The quality could be seen to represent the price tag of $39.99US. This dress steamed well and coming with coordinating shorts was a bonus.

My next choice was the 1950's Pocket Plaid Dress in red and white. This super cute dress was perfect for my day out at Happy Days Donuts, a local 50's diner. Made from cotton/spandex featuring a turn down collar, large white buttons and two gorgeous detailed pockets at the front. The smallest size was Small, however an Extra Small would have fit me a tad better in the waist. There is no belt included with this dress unfortunately, but it is easy enough to add your own and for the price of $42.99US I was reasonably happy with the dress itself. I felt very comfortable in this dress all day and I also teamed it with their 1950's Ruffled Petticoat Underskirt, which fit perfectly under the skirt of the dress.

The team at Retro Stage are very lovely to work and liaise with. Considering the current Global Pandemic I received this items very quickly. All items came individually packed in perfect brand new condition. There could be some design tweaks for the items I received, but they were still fun to wear and I would encourage you to check them out if you are wanting to create a vintage inspired look on a budget.

    Belle Poque Collaboration

    Belle Poque Collaboration

Earlier this month I was contacted by the fabulous team at Belle Poque. Belle Poque was created in 2015 and is an independent brand recreating vintage inspired clothing. They aim to provide customers with high quality garments at competitive prices with excellent customer service.

I was lucky enough to receive two items in my package. The first and my absolute favourite was the Women's Cherry Cropped Cardigan.

Made from 55%Viscose+40%Polyamide+5%Spandex giving a nice amount of stretch, with 3/4 sleeves and covered in delightful embroided cherries.

Perfect to layer in the cooler months and your go to in the warmer months to pin over your shoulders. Now you all know me and how much I love 1950's diners, so it was only fitting to take this little cutie to Happy Days Donuts for a milkshake with Brookleigh Photography and my Care Bear of course!

The second item I received was the 1950's Vintage Sleeveless V-Neck Flared A-Line Dress. Which is a very versatile black dress featuring a vibrant floral swan print along the hemline.

Made from 95%Cotton+5%Spandex with a nice amount of stretch, matching removable belt and a ruched bust to give you a very flattering shape and if your like me and you have a small bust this is perfect for you.

I felt extremely comfortable in this dress and I was happy with the fit, plus coming with a matching belt made my heart sing. I would not wear a petticoat under this as it is an A-Line dress, but you can certainly mix and match different coloured accessories depending on your mood. I chose a pop of yellow on this occasion teamed with my New York Luxe Charlie Stone heels.

After taking these babies for a spin I was really happy with the style, fit and quality for the price. I received my package very quickly and the team at Belle Poque were fabulous. They do have some super cute combos currently in their online store, so go and check them out.
