    July Cherry Doll!

    July Cherry Doll!

Being able to meet so many amazing women is one of my favourite things about my business. I met this stunning doll at the opening of Happy Days Donuts and clearly she won Best Dressed that day...I mean look at her hair!

Since then she has been another fabulous customer of mine. So I had to choose her to be my August Cherry doll.

    Read all about her below!

    1. Who are you and what is your pinup persona?

    eg.... Name/pinup name

    Tammy aka Mrs Nordstrom

    2. Where are you from?

I'm from New Zealand but have spent the last 8 years in Melbourne!

    3. What do you love about pinup?
My love for pinup began with finding a 50's swing dress in an op shop many years ago and realizing it was the perfect style for my body shape. I love the fashion both genuine vintage and reproduction, the creativity involved in putting together outfits, and how supportive the pinup community is whether it's in person or online!

    4. How did you find out about Cherry La Blaze Vintage and Rockabilly?

I first discovered Cherry La Blaze when I won the best dressed competition at Happy Days Donuts opening day & received a voucher in my prize!

    5. What is your favorite product that you have purchased from our store so far?
I have a few favourites - I am a little obsessed with my Martinis & Slippers Pineapple Brooch, but as a practical item I love my Jac-o-net Triangle Veil Net for putting over my wet sets before bed as it's so much more comfortable than using a normal scarf!

    6. What do you do for work?

    I'm a Pharmacy Assistant.

    7. What/who inspires you and your personal style?

My first inspiration would have to have been Dita, although my style has changed a fair bit since then so I am probably now more influenced designers creations, and seeing patterns, fabrics & accessories and trying to figure out how I can put them all together, rather than specific people.

    8. Sweet or savory?

It's impossible to choose - Both!

    9. Favorite quote/advice and why
"Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always."
Life can be rough sometimes - you just never know what someone is going through.

    10. Anything else you would love to share?

I hate talking about myself so I can't really think of anything else! :-P

    Thank you so much doll!

I really love your advice. So true!

    July Cherry Doll!

    July Cherry Doll!

My July Cherry Doll is all the way from the other side of the country yet we have connected through our love of all things vintage, kitsch and colourful!
    Please welcome Kirra Jarvis AKA
    @missjoycurve_pinup
Please have a read and get to know this stunning doll a little more and make sure you give her a follow!
    1. Who are you and what is your pinup persona?
My  pinup name is Miss Joycurve. I came up with this name from inspiration with my own body.. I'm joyful and curvy.
    2. Where are you from?
I'm from the West.. Good old chilled Perth.
    3. What do you love about pinup?
There are lots of reasons why I love pinup. I love how you can express your own flare to the mid century fashion of pinup. With that being lots of bright colours and loving the modern take or being a true collector and living the mid century fashion dream realness.
One of the things I dearly do love is that no matter what size you can rock this look. Pinup has lots of different genres to it and I'm so happy to be apart of this group of people.
    4. How did you find out about Cherry La Blaze vintage and Rockabilly?
I found out about cherry la blaze from a beautiful friend of mine that does pinup photography here in Perth she told me to jump online and check out the store.
    5. What is your favourite product that you have purchased from our store so far?
I purchased the amazing Daisy Jean floral ice cream earrings I absolutely adore these and I have worn them so much already.
    6. What do you do for work?
Currently I am a store manager/ stylist for a store that has beautiful vintage inspired fashion and I've been there just over 4 years now.
    7. What/who inspires your personal style?
I have never really been one to copy someone else's look persay but who doesn't love the stunning Miss Victory violet. I have always been into fashion at a young age dressing my self in cute dresses and my grandmother making me clothing from vintage patterns and showing me starlets from back in the 30s, 40s and 50s. I guess she is also one that inspired me as she is a very creative artist so I've always been around colour all my life.
    8. Sweet or Savory?
Wow this is a tough one hahaha I do love a good ice cream sundae but I'm currently on a health journey and been watching what goes down the mouth hole haha. In saying that I do extremely love home cooked fresh bread out of the oven with a little butter. Mmmmmm.
    9. Favourite quote/advice and why?
My advice I always stand by is, never worry about what others think I huge thing I find each day is woman hating on there body and saying that they aren't good enough. Society needs to wake up and accept you for all your greatest at the end of the day you are you and with all the powers in the world unfortunately you can't be someone else. Never matter what someone thinks of your outfit, what you are wearing or what you look like the only person that matters is you! And your inner beauty always shines at the end of the day. Go out into the world knowing you can't always please everyone if someone hates you it's their issue not yours.. Pay them no mind.
    10. Anything else you would love to share?
New pinups starting out or ladies wanting to try the style but to afraid to saying that they can't do it... Stop telling yourself you can't.. Anything in life is possible and seeing yourself in a different way can be a shock. You have one life try everything you can and enjoy all life's little perks.
    Thank you so much doll!
It's been a pleasure getting to know you more and thank you for supporting my little biz!

    June Cherry Doll!

    June Cherry Doll!

My June Cherry Doll is an absolute stunner and fellow Melbourne pinup. We were lucky enough to meet in 2018 and I was blown away by her vintage style.

    Please welcome Zoe!

Read all about her love of vintage and make sure you follow her journey on Instagram

    @zo_renee

    She is a true inspiration!

    1. Who are you and what is your pinup persona?

My name is Zoe, I'm 28 years old and I love all things vintage. I got my love of vintage from my mum. I grew up hunting and exploring through antique shops, vintage markets and fairs with her. She also loves watching old movies from the 30s, 40s and 50s and got me addicted to them. We would (still do) watch them and comment on each outfit we loved the most. I came into dressing vintage only a couple of years ago. I didn't think I could pull it off, but after a bad break up I decided what the hell and haven't looked back.

    2. Where are you from?

Born and grew up in Melbourne, Australia. Still currently in Melbourne.

    3. What do you love about pinup?

Where do I begin? I love everything about it. I love the attention to detail and the surprises with vintage clothing, like hidden pockets. One of my favourite outfits to wear is a late 1940s to early 1950s suit. The tailoring, even just a very simple style is incredibly on point and makes so many different figures look stunning. It's like an art form,  from the clothes the make up, hair and down to the simple details like jewellery and stockings.

I definitely feel as though I have found myself and gained more confidence since I started wearing vintage and reproductive style clothing. It's something that makes me feel so happy to be the person that I am now.
I've meet some great and amazing people through the vintage/ pinup community from vintage sellers, pinups and vintage enthusiasts and made some great new friends. I get a lot of strangers in public coming up to me to start a conversation about my style and clothing and how it reminds them of either themselves wearing a similar style or their mothers and grandmothers. It's lovely to see them reminisce the past and remember happy memories.
    4. How did you find out about Cherry La Blaze Vintage and Rockabilly?
I first heard about Cherry La Blaze Vintage and Rockabilly when I meet Miss Cherry La Blaze at a vintage hair tutorial class run by the lovely Ally Ferguson (VintageValley) last year. Miss Cherry La Blaze was the model for Ally. I started to follow Miss Cherry La Blaze on Instagram and purchase
    from her fabulous store.
    5. What is your favorite product that you have purchased from our store so far?
I really like the vintage hairstyling miracle curl brush, it has really helped with my brush outs and taming my crazy curls! I also love the hair flowers. The colours are amazing and they look very incredible. I also love how they can be pinned anywhere and not just for your hair. I've pinned them on cardigans, hats and coats. They add an extra pop of colour and glam.
    6. What do you do for work?

I'm currently a receptionist for an Optometrist. I studied a Bachelor of Fine Art and continue with my art with night classes and sometimes have exhibitions.

    7. What/who inspires you and your personal style?

I adore Gene Tierney, I love her 40s fashion and style. She is dressed to kill, a femme fatale and so incredibly glamorous. Audrey Hepburn is another big inspiration for me too, her sweet 1950s style like in Sabrina and Funny Face.
I collect old magazines from the 30s to the early 60s is that focus on fashion to get tips and ideas of colours and accessories.
    8. Sweet or savory?
Hmm, that's really hard! I love all food, I eat like a pig which you wouldn't know by the look of me. But if I had to pick probably sweet, I'm a big baker of cakes, cupcakes, pies and all sorts of things.
    9. Favorite quote/advice and why
"The most important thing is to enjoy your life, to be happy, it's all that matters" -Audrey Hepburn
"Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom"- Marcel Proust
    Thank you so much doll!
You are a total bombshell, I'm so glad to have met you and thank you for being such a fabulous customer.
Keep doing what your doing because you are inspiring pinups everywhere.

    It's All About Kova Kiss!

    It's All About Kova Kiss!

The Pretty in Pink Dress by Kova Kiss will definitely brighten your day!

Designed in Atlanta, Georgia by Gabriela Kova a stunning lady wanting to make sustainable, stylish and affordable fashion. The whole collection has a stunning nostalgic vibe and I was lucky enough to receive the super cute Pretty in Pink Dress which oozes 60's mod. It's cut to the thigh and has just the right amount of wiggle.

    https://www.kovakiss.co/product-page/pretty-in-pink

Besides being made from a delicious bubble gum pink, the outer layer is made out of 100% cotton and the lining is made from shiny polyester. I ordered the size 2 which fitted me very well from the waist up, it was a little loose around the legs but that is not reflected on the design but rather my body type. There is a very clear size chart on the website which ranges from a 0-12 and has measurements listed accordingly.

This little number has no sleeves, a fitted bodice with a bow detail, hidden zip and is made to such high quality that I would highly recommend!

Something I really love about this dress is that you can change the style and mix it up. For example you could keep it feminine and accessorize with pretty hair flowers and a sweet cardigan or you can add a rockabilly edge like me. I do love to mix up my styling so I teamed it with a leather jacket, polka dot tights and red accessories which is definitely a look that I will wear again.

This delightful dress came in it's own bag and was wrapped nicely. All conversations with Gabriela were so easy and I truly felt like we were friends that had worked together before. Being a small business owner myself providing excellent customer service is one of my main goals. So it warmed my heart that Kova Kiss represented similar values.

Shipment from the U.S was very quick so there is no waiting too long for your little touch of paradise. I would highly recommend checking out this amazing small business and not just this dress but the whole collection. This dress was originally $200 but is now on SALE so don't miss out!

Thank you so much Gabriela and the team at Kova Kiss!

I look forward to working with you again soon.

    3. What do you love about pinup?

I've always loved old Hollywood glamour so pinup was a no brainer for me! I love the fashion (particularly 40s styles), the hair and how timeless the pinup look is. Pinup also gives me a chance to be use my creativity and allowed me to make lifelong friends with some sensational people.

    4. How did you find out about Cherry La Blaze Vintage and Rockabilly?

    5. What is your favorite product that you have purchased from our store so far?

    6. What do you do for work?

I'm an Event Coordinator at Festival Hall in Melbourne.

    7. What/who inspires you and your personal style?

I've always loved the glamour of the 1940s and Hollywood legends such as Jane Russell. There's no denying I take some of my styling inspo (particularly my hair) from modern glamour icon  Dita Von Teese but I also have a love of punk/rock and the grungy pin-up styling of the late Amy Winehouse.

    8. Sweet or savory?

Definitely savory. Hot chips for life!

    9. Favorite quote/advice and why

"The best part of life is not just surviving, but thriving with passion and compassion and humour and style and generosity and kindness."– Maya Angelou

I think this quote resonates with me as we all have the power to be kinder to one another. Be a beacon of positivity for yourself and others by not engaging with toxicity. Something as simple as smiling at a stranger could brighten that persons whole day. We owe it to the world to be more peaceful and loving toward each other.

    10. Anything else you would love to share?

To anyone thinking of becoming more involved in the pinup scene, definitely do! It is a fun, inclusive and fashionable community of like-minded people. In Victoria we have a pinup social group called the Vic Vixens. If you'd like to learn more, feel free to add yourself to the group and stay up to date with everything pinup!

Thank you so much Miss Katie Kaleidoscope!

It was so fun getting to know you more and I hope you enjoy being my April Cherry Doll!
