    June Cherry Doll!

    June Cherry Doll!

My June Cherry Doll is an absolute stunner and fellow Melbourne pinup. We were lucky enough to meet in 2018 and I was blown away by her vintage style.

    Please welcome Zoe!

Read all about her love of vintage and make sure you follow her journey on Instagram

    @zo_renee

    She is a true inspiration!

    1. Who are you and what is your pinup persona?

My name is Zoe, I'm 28 years old and I love all things vintage. I got my love of vintage from my mum. I grew up hunting and exploring through antique shops, vintage markets and fairs with her. She also loves watching old movies from the 30s, 40s and 50s and got me addicted to them. We would (still do) watch them and comment on each outfit we loved the most. I came into dressing vintage only a couple of years ago. I didn't think I could pull it off, but after a bad break up I decided what the hell and haven't looked back.

    2. Where are you from?

Born and grew up in Melbourne, Australia. Still currently in Melbourne.

    3. What do you love about pinup?

Where do I begin? I love everything about it. I love the attention to detail and the surprises with vintage clothing, like hidden pockets. One of my favourite outfits to wear is a late 1940s to early 1950s suit. The tailoring, even just a very simple style is incredibly on point and makes so many different figures look stunning. It's like an art form,  from the clothes the make up, hair and down to the simple details like jewellery and stockings.

I definitely feel as though I have found myself and gained more confidence since I started wearing vintage and reproductive style clothing. It's something that makes me feel so happy to be the person that I am now.
I've meet some great and amazing people through the vintage/ pinup community from vintage sellers, pinups and vintage enthusiasts and made some great new friends. I get a lot of strangers in public coming up to me to start a conversation about my style and clothing and how it reminds them of either themselves wearing a similar style or their mothers and grandmothers. It's lovely to see them reminisce the past and remember happy memories.
    4. How did you find out about Cherry La Blaze Vintage and Rockabilly?
I first heard about Cherry La Blaze Vintage and Rockabilly when I meet Miss Cherry La Blaze at a vintage hair tutorial class run by the lovely Ally Ferguson (VintageValley) last year. Miss Cherry La Blaze was the model for Ally. I started to follow Miss Cherry La Blaze on Instagram and purchase
    from her fabulous store.
    5. What is your favorite product that you have purchased from our store so far?
I really like the vintage hairstyling miracle curl brush, it has really helped with my brush outs and taming my crazy curls! I also love the hair flowers. The colours are amazing and they look very incredible. I also love how they can be pinned anywhere and not just for your hair. I've pinned them on cardigans, hats and coats. They add an extra pop of colour and glam.
    6. What do you do for work?

I'm currently a receptionist for an Optometrist. I studied a Bachelor of Fine Art and continue with my art with night classes and sometimes have exhibitions.

    7. What/who inspires you and your personal style?

I adore Gene Tierney, I love her 40s fashion and style. She is dressed to kill, a femme fatale and so incredibly glamorous. Audrey Hepburn is another big inspiration for me too, her sweet 1950s style like in Sabrina and Funny Face.
I collect old magazines from the 30s to the early 60s is that focus on fashion to get tips and ideas of colours and accessories.
    8. Sweet or savory?
Hmm, that's really hard! I love all food, I eat like a pig which you wouldn't know by the look of me. But if I had to pick probably sweet, I'm a big baker of cakes, cupcakes, pies and all sorts of things.
    9. Favorite quote/advice and why
"The most important thing is to enjoy your life, to be happy, it's all that matters" -Audrey Hepburn
"Let us be grateful to people who make us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom"- Marcel Proust
    Thank you so much doll!
You are a total bombshell, I'm so glad to have met you and thank you for being such a fabulous customer.
Keep doing what your doing because you are inspiring pinups everywhere.

    It's All About Kova Kiss!

    It's All About Kova Kiss!

The Pretty in Pink Dress by Kova Kiss will definitely brighten your day!

Designed in Atlanta, Georgia by Gabriela Kova a stunning lady wanting to make sustainable, stylish and affordable fashion. The whole collection has a stunning nostalgic vibe and I was lucky enough to receive the super cute Pretty in Pink Dress which oozes 60's mod. It's cut to the thigh and has just the right amount of wiggle.

    https://www.kovakiss.co/product-page/pretty-in-pink

Besides being made from a delicious bubble gum pink, the outer layer is made out of 100% cotton and the lining is made from shiny polyester. I ordered the size 2 which fitted me very well from the waist up, it was a little loose around the legs but that is not reflected on the design but rather my body type. There is a very clear size chart on the website which ranges from a 0-12 and has measurements listed accordingly.

This little number has no sleeves, a fitted bodice with a bow detail, hidden zip and is made to such high quality that I would highly recommend!

Something I really love about this dress is that you can change the style and mix it up. For example you could keep it feminine and accessorize with pretty hair flowers and a sweet cardigan or you can add a rockabilly edge like me. I do love to mix up my styling so I teamed it with a leather jacket, polka dot tights and red accessories which is definitely a look that I will wear again.

This delightful dress came in it's own bag and was wrapped nicely. All conversations with Gabriela were so easy and I truly felt like we were friends that had worked together before. Being a small business owner myself providing excellent customer service is one of my main goals. So it warmed my heart that Kova Kiss represented similar values.

Shipment from the U.S was very quick so there is no waiting too long for your little touch of paradise. I would highly recommend checking out this amazing small business and not just this dress but the whole collection. This dress was originally $200 but is now on SALE so don't miss out!

Thank you so much Gabriela and the team at Kova Kiss!

I look forward to working with you again soon.

    May Cherry Doll

    May Cherry Doll

Please Welcome My Cherry Doll For The Month of May - Miss Jaslyn Rose!

I met this beautiful doll while we were both competing in Pinup Doll Australia last year. She is a true gem and such a kind soul. I have loved watching her style grow and I feel super proud to be part of that. Make sure you check out her new Blog too and follow her work on Face Book and Instagram!

    https://www.facebook.com/MissJaslynRose/

    @missjaslynrose

    1. Who are you and what is your pinup persona?

    eg.... Name/pinup name

Hi, I'm Jaslyn, I'm a 19 year old pinup who has a love for everything retro, vintage, rummaging through op shops and garage sales, history, photography, singing, and animals! My Pinup name is Miss Jaslyn Rose as my name is pretty unique personally I haven't met many other people with my name except for the lady who my Mum named me after who was a radio presenter for Triple J/Double J called Jaslyn Hall. Hence why my pinup name Miss Jaslyn Rose stuck.

    2. Where are you from?

I currently live in Newcastle NSW Australia and have lived in the Hunter Valley region for my whole life.

    3. What do you love about pinup?

I love pinup as it's an amazing way to express myself in a way that I never knew how to before finding the amazing world of pinup! I love that pinup has given me a whole new level of confidence that I never used to have, I used to be a very quiet and pretty shy person when I was in high school and was a bit of an introvert and pinup has let me break free from this and I'm now able to go up to people and introduce myself to new people at events, I have made so many amazing friend's thanks to pinup. Another thing I love about pinup is the community I love how supportive everyone is and the culture towards building fellow pinups up rather than down. I constantly try my best to help new pinups and introduce more people to the amazing world of pinup. I plan on hopefully running a pinup event of some sort in the future and hope to run a few best dressed competitions at some local events.

    4. How did you find out about Cherry La Blaze Vintage and Rockabilly?

I first found out about Cherry La Blaze through Pinup Doll Australia 2018 as she was a fellow contestant. During the periods coming up to Pinup Doll Australia I also entered in the Pinup Registry's Pinup of the month in June and was lucky enough to take out the prize which was a voucher from Cherry La Blaze Vintage and Rockabilly where I purchased my first item, from them I have been buying vintage inspired goods from Cherry La Blaze which are always gorgeous items.

    5. What is your favorite product that you have purchased from our store so far?

Definitely a gorgeous pinafore from Louella DeVille Boutique which has a gorgeous cowgirl print on it! The pinafore is super comfy and I love that I can wear it as a playsuit or with the skirt for a feminine twist it's great for many occasions!

    6. What do you do for work?

I am currently working as a waitress at a local seafood restaurant and am currently doing photography part time as I have always had a love for photography and being able to capture beautiful moments I want to hopefully start photographing more pinups. I also model for fun mainly but a goal of mine is to get published this year.

    7. What/who inspires you and your personal style?

I am inspired by so many things in the pinup my world I am mainly inspired by the pinups of the 1940s and the Andrew Sisters they always looked so beautiful whilst staying so strong during World War II. I am also inspired by the pinups with a wild west flair as I have a love for gingham and being on the farm.

    8. Sweet or savory?

¿Por qué no ambos? I am both a sweet and savory lover I love some salted caramel occasionally but I have definitely been more savory lately.

    9. Favorite quote/advice and why

One of my current favourites is, "Never be afraid to be a poppy in a field of daffodils" - Michaela DePrince I love this quote as I believe individuality is so important! Never conform to the norms and always be yourself, this is so important for new pinups as I believe it's so important to let yourself shine and find your own unique sense of style. I believe I am still finding my own particular style but I always try to let my personality shine. I'm nowhere near to being perfect and I still have a long way to go on my pinup journey but one thing I will always be is myself and I won't let anyone let me think I should be someone else. That's why I love being a pinup as I am able to be me and I am able to be confident in myself.

    Thank you so much doll!

I have loved getting to know you more and thank you so much for your ongoing support.

    2. Where are you from?

    Melbourne

    3. What do you love about pinup?

I've always loved old Hollywood glamour so pinup was a no brainer for me! I love the fashion (particularly 40s styles), the hair and how timeless the pinup look is. Pinup also gives me a chance to be use my creativity and allowed me to make lifelong friends with some sensational people.

    4. How did you find out about Cherry La Blaze Vintage and Rockabilly?

Initially I knew about Cherry La Blaze the store from shopping online. Then I met THE fabulous Cherry La Blaze herself at Ballarat Beat in 2018 and have continued to be a customer and friend since.

    5. What is your favorite product that you have purchased from our store so far?

    7. What/who inspires you and your personal style?

I've always loved the glamour of the 1940s and Hollywood legends such as Jane Russell. There's no denying I take some of my styling inspo (particularly my hair) from modern glamour icon  Dita Von Teese but I also have a love of punk/rock and the grungy pin-up styling of the late Amy Winehouse.

    8. Sweet or savory?

Definitely savory. Hot chips for life!

    9. Favorite quote/advice and why

"The best part of life is not just surviving, but thriving with passion and compassion and humour and style and generosity and kindness."– Maya Angelou

I think this quote resonates with me as we all have the power to be kinder to one another. Be a beacon of positivity for yourself and others by not engaging with toxicity. Something as simple as smiling at a stranger could brighten that persons whole day. We owe it to the world to be more peaceful and loving toward each other.

    10. Anything else you would love to share?

To anyone thinking of becoming more involved in the pinup scene, definitely do! It is a fun, inclusive and fashionable community of like-minded people. In Victoria we have a pinup social group called the Vic Vixens. If you'd like to learn more, feel free to add yourself to the group and stay up to date with everything pinup!

Thank you so much Miss Katie Kaleidoscope!

It was so fun getting to know you more and I hope you enjoy being my April Cherry Doll!

    DRESSLILY COLLABORATION

    DRESSLILY COLLABORATION

I was recently contacted by Dresslily to not only try some of their super cute 50's inspired dresses but to also do a live review on their Face Book page!

I jumped at the opportunity straight away because they really do have some adorable vintage inspired items that won't break your budget and because I love trying new things and going live is something I have never done.

So after a few issues with my kiddies and some technical updates we are now set for the live review later this week. I will be announcing the day and time in the next couple of days so stay tuned and make sure you are following the Dresslily Face Book page below.

    https://www.facebook.com/Dresslily/

I was lucky enough to receive four different vintage inspired dresses, one being classic 50's, rockabilly/diner style, tiki and a floral piece for the cooler months. I wanted to show the wide variety of styles that are available from Dresslily. I have to admit I do have a favourite! Which is the Retro Gingham Bow Knot Flare Dress pictured below which screams classic 50's housewife. However all in all I do love every one of them for different reasons which I will go into more depth in the live review.

If you are a pinup on a budget and you are looking for some vintage inspired dresses then I recommend giving this brand a go. I was really happy with all of the dresses I received, they were all stretchy and super comfy and would love to try some of their themed dresses too.
